Sending my thoughts and prayers for comfort to the family during this difficult time.  Mr. Frederick was a GREAT teacher and one of my favorites.  To this day, I still can't start a sentence with the word "There" because of him; however,  I did FINALLY get over the urge to diagram sentences.  :)  All of that red ink made us better writers, but Mr. Frederick made us better people.  Thank you Mr. Frederick!!  Rest in peace.

I am very sorrowful to hear of Jon's passing. I had the office next to him at the Albany branch of SCC for 3 years and since there were only 3 of us male instructors, we congregated in the area outside my office if we had a few minutes between classes. I and all of his students had an enduring respect for him and he had developed a method of speaking soft but loud at the same time so the students could hear him. He was never harsh but always showed great compassion to all that came to him for help.
He shall be highly missed amongst the halls of education. Go to your rest Jon, you have earned it.

We just read in the Lexington Herald Leader of Mr. Frederick's passing.  He was such a wonderful mentor and educator for me in my high school years as well as a beloved and respected colleague of my mom, Mrs. Thelma Murley along with my aunt, Mrs. Mae Jarvis in  our school system.   It was always a pleasure to see him when we would  visit at the cafe and I  was so pleased that I was able to introduce him to my husband who is from Lexington and not one of his former students.  Please accept our heartfelt condolences and prayers at this time for your family.  Jennifer and Bob

To Judy and your entire family:
His classmates from Paris High School Class of 1963 send our heartfelt sympathy.  We were so glad you and Jon were able to attend our last reunion, as it had been many, many years since any of us had had the chance to see him, meet you and enjoy a great evening.  He was a dear friend of mine especially, since my last name started with G and his was F, he say in front of me all through school.  Prayers for comfort, peace and strength in the days ahead.  Rest Jon, you have earned it.

I was deeply saddened when I learned of Jon's passing quite by accident while surfing the internet.  I first met Jon when we lived in the same apartment complex in Paris, Kentucky, and attended school together beginning in 5th grade.  However, my best memories of him are from high school--his zaniness, his love of acting and drama, his sharp mind and intellect, and his loyalty to friends.  He was always the classmate that we looked to liven up a party or fill a difficult role in a play.  We shared the stage on more than one occasion, but the most memorable was the senior play, "You Can't Take It with You."  We were both typecast--me as the "sensible" daughter who supported a crazy family, and Jon the crazy professor who blew things up in the basement.  I don't think I have seen Jon since high school.  He attended the reunions I missed and vice versa.  But I since learning of his passing, I have missed him and know the world is a little worse off without him.  My condolences go out to his very lovely family.  You were so fortunate to have shared his life.
