Wayne Melton

Wayne Melton, age 84 of  Burkesville, KY passed away on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Cumberland County Hospital. Wayne was born on August 1, 1939 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Ovie Riddle Williams. Wayne married the former Hazel Severe on July 02, 1960 in Livingston, TN. Wayne was a former Cutting Room Foreman at Sutton Shirt Corporation and later retired as Deputy Circuit Court Clerk after 26 years and was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a grandson, Brooks Gilbert, a brother, Raymond Melton and his wife Nell, father-in-law and mother-in-law Odell and Ella Severe, sister-in-law Margie Severe and niece Sharon Gray.

Two sons - Jackie Melton and Jeff Melton (Sara) of Burkesville, KY
One daughter - Marla McClendon of Burkesville 
Sisters - Betty Sue Poindexter (David) of Carmel, IN and Rachel Davis of Burkesville, KY
Brother - Dewey Williams (Judy) of New Palestine, IN
Brother-in-law - Bobby Severe of Burkesville, KY
Sister-in-law & Brother-in-law - Louise and Leon Ferguson of Woodburn, KY
Five Grandchildren - Cody Melton (Ashley), Lori Watson (Brad), Craig Gilbert (Tasha), Morigan McClendon (Jeff) and Chad Melton (Chasity)
14 Great Grandchildren - Caleb Wells (Sarah), Trent Gilbert, Adam Gilbert, Pasiley Gilbert, Carlee Jo Baker, Ellie Watson, Cason Melton, Callie Watson, Westlynn Wray, Cyrus Melton, Gannon McClendon, Blakleigh Rowe, Mila Melton and Neyland Melton
One Great-Great Grandchild - Bowen Wells

Funeral service:
Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St, Burkesville, KY with burial in Christian Chapel Cemetery. Family requests visitation on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 3:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M.
