Gladys Viola Schlosnagle Broadwater entered eternity Thursday, January 2nd in Boynton Beach, Florida, reaching the age of  95-1/2 years.  Her death occurred on the fourth day of the 40th consecutive year she had wintered in the Lake Worth area of South Florida.  She loved her family, going to church, baking cookies, walking to the mailbox, and reading the letters and cards she received.  Her smile was a present to everyone she would meet.
Gladys was born in Accident, Maryland, on July 21, 1918.  Her parents were the late Maude Spoerlein and Howard Schlosnagle.  On December 26, 1943, she married Roy Russell Broadwater.  They were married 64-1/2 years until his death in 2007.  Gladys was a helpmate to Roy in all his career endeavors. She loved to grow a vegetable and flower garden, but her main career was raising her family in a Christian home.

She is survived by her siblings:  Eugene, John, and Glenn Schlosnagle, Marjorie Higley, Eleanor Grove, and Dorothy Moon.  She was preceded  in  death by siblings: Clark, Raymond, Marvin, Miriam Schlosnagle and Mabel Graves.
She leaves four children: Richard (Cecilia), Ronald (Laura), Dave (Teddi) Broadwater and Mary (Joseph) Skipworth.  Her loving grandchildren are Benji Broadwater, Ellen Neathery, Elizabeth Gilbert, Joshua, Eric, Michael, Frank, Stanford, Christopher and Sophie Broadwater.  She was blessed with four great grandchildren: Jake and Macie Broadwater; Landon and Emma Gilbert.
Since 2007, Gladys made her home with daughter Mary in Burkesville, Kentucky.  She was very active and had many loving and caring friends while a member at the First Christian Church.  She was also a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Louisville for many years and did mission work with the Women’s Evening Circle.  Her Motto was Everything in Moderation.  Her Strength was her Faith.  Her Love was her Family.

A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church in Burkesville, Kentucky, on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at 11:00 CST.  There will be a visitation from 9 am until 11CST at First Christian Church.   In lieu of flowers, donations to the First Christian Church building fund, Cumberland County Public Library or your favorite charity.
