Carmelita Smith, age 93 of  Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025 at Cumberland County Hospital. Carmelita was born on June 4, 1932 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Nonnie McKinley Thrasher and Daisy Baker Anderson Thrasher. Carmelita was Church of Christ faith having been baptized at Hanover Church of Christ in August, 1951.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ted Smith, an infant son, siblings Joe Thrasher, Benton Thrasher, Sam Baker Thrasher, Edward Thrasher and Geneva Scott and a special niece, Judy Lee.

Survivors include: One son - Nonnie Smith (Margaret) of Burkesville One daughter - Toshia Harper (Ray) of Burkesville Four grandchildren - Kurtis Harper, Callie Harper, Phillip Pierce, Jonathan (Alicia) Pierce Seven Great-grandchildren - Andrea Mann, Audrey Pierce, Jamie Lynn Pierce, Amber Pierce, Jalaina Pierce, Dawson Pierce and Addie Pierce Two Great-great-grandchildren - Skylin Raines and Maevie Tallent

Funeral service: Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N Main St, Burkesville, with Bro. Raymond Castillo officiating, burial in Stockton Cemetery. Family requests visitation on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. and on Thursday 6:00 A.M. until time for the service at 11:00 A.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.
