Dorothy Abston Glidewell, 87, of Burkesville, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2012, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville, TN. Dorothy was born in Burkesville, Kentucky on March 23, 1924,to the late Eunice Smith Abston,and the late Robert Love Abston. She was a retired employee of the Cumberland County School System having taught elementary education 42 years and adult education for 12 years. She was a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, Hegira Homemakers Club, and the Retired Teachers Association. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ruel Glidewell, two sisters, Lovie Groce, and Laura Arms.

Survivors Include: 1 Daughter, Brenda Glidewell of Burkesville, KY; 2 Brothers, Hall Abston of Burkesville, KY; Howard Abston of Burkesville, KY; 2 Sisters, Beatrice Hay of Thousand Oaks, CA; Martha Quich of Madison, IN; 1 Granddaughter, Kelly (Greg) DeVivo of Saint Augustine, FL; 1 Grandson, Lance (Mil) Pierce of Boston, MA; 3 Great-Grandchildren, Ava Sophia DeVivo, Hannah Pierce, and Olivia Pierce and a host of other relatives and friends Funeral services on Friday, January 27, 2012, at 1:00 PM at Ballou and Stotts Funeral Home, 304 North Main Street, Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Calvin Johnson, and Bro. Greg Wells officiating. Burial in the Modoc Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 Noon until 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, in Burkesville. Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the Kidney Foundation or Arthritis Foundation and may be left at the funeral home.
