Kenneth M. Spears age 90 of Burkesville, Kentucky (a resident of Cumberland Valley Manor) formerly of the Peytonsburg Community passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the nursing home. Kenneth was born on August 06, 1925 in Cumberland County, Kentucky to the late Clury Thomas Spears and Letha Wells Spears.  He was a former employee of Hendricks Creek Marina, Dale Hollow State Park, and the Salvation Army Camp Paradise Valley.  Kenneth served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 until 1945 as a rifleman, receiving the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star. He was a life member of Burkesville VFW Post 5419. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Pearl Key Spears, and five siblings, Ocie Keen, Lucille Capps, Lena Gray, Myrtle Rowe, and Inis Severe. Survivors Include: Two Sons- Joseph K Spears of Indianapolis, IN and Wayne R. Spears and his wife Sharon of Peytonsburg, KY Three Sisters- Ella Severe of Burkesville, KY, Lyda Jones of Celina, TN, and Selma Engle of Indianapolis, IN Three Brothers- Franklin Spears, and Billy Spears both of Burkesville, KY and Arnold Spears of Avon, IN Funeral Service: Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 11:30 A.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in Spears Cemetery with military honors. Family requests visitation on Friday, June 17, 2016 after 12 Noon at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in Burkesville.
