Dr. Robert Newman Pace, 91, of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011. The Cumberland County native was born June 17, 1919, to the late Henry Schooling Pace and Leta B. Pace. Dr. Pace was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Tynes Pace, two brothers, Lawrence Pace and William Pace, and sisters, Margo Blakey, Dorothy Thomas and Doris Butler.

Dr. Pace practiced dentistry in Bowling Green for nearly 50 years. He was a graduate of Bowling Green High School, Western Kentucky University and the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where he received a doctorate in dental medicine in 1951. He was a member and elder emeritus of First Christian Church, where he also sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for several years. Dr. Pace enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and then served his country stateside until the end of World War II, when he was honorably discharged as Corporal Pace. In 1951, Dr. Pace worked with other community leaders to initiate the local health department
