Mrs. Sharla Jean (Hughes) Purciful, age 74, of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at her home, surrounded by family. Sharla was born in Elwood, Indiana on February 7, 1952, and was the daughter of the late Richard Wayne Hughes and Edna Marie Couch. Sharla raised twelve children and worked alongside her husband as a Union Stagehand. She was a huge advocate for organ and tissue donation and was of the Christian Faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two children, Aja Lee Purciful and Aaron David Purciful, two brothers, David and Mike Hughes, and one sister, Karen Hook.

She is survived by her husband, Don Jay Purciful, of Burkesville, Kentucky

Nicholas Kristian Purciful and wife Jessica

One Sister, Rhonda Garringer and husband Rex along with

Fifteen grandchildren will continue to carry on the legacy she leaves behind.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. eastern time at Oakdale Cemetery in Urbana, Ohio. 319 Patrick Avenue, Urbana, Ohio 43078.
