Carmon R. Hoots, 95, of New Castle, passed away Monday, February 17, 2025, at The Willows of New Castle. He was born April 1, 1929, in Albany, Kentucky to Charles and Myrtie (Sells) Hoots.
Carmon was a member and Deacon at Calvary Baptist Church for over 50 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and deer hunting on the family farm in Kentucky. He has 6 mounted deer trophies.
Carmon had worked at Nickel Plate and later worked and retired as a maintenance inspector for Norfolk-Southern Railroad.
Carmon is survived by wife Elva (Riddle) Hoots, whom he married January 1, 1953, children: Judy (Roger) Melton of New Castle, IN Gary (Brenda) Hoots of Straughn, IN grandchildren: Jeremy Hoots, Jared Hoots, Josh Hoots, Gage Ferrell and Braxton Ferrell, great-grandchildren: Caleb, Miah, Jensen, Asher, Bentlee, Carlie, Chandler, Brody and Aiven. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Inis, Barbara and Golda, brothers Orville, Raymond, Edison and Howard.
A funeral to celebrate Carmon’s life will be held at 1:00 pm Eastern on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Rose City Funeral Home. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of service.
A Graveside service and burial will take place on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. Central Time at Rose of Sharon Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky with military honors
