Claud "Grandpa" Atchley

Claud "Grandpa" Atchley, age 89 of Burkesville, Kentucky passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Cumberland County Hospital. Claud was born on March 27, 1936 in Adair County,  KY to the late John Tylor Atchley and Nettie Grider Atchley.  He was a former employee of Emerson Manufacturing and was a longtime farmer. Claud was a member of Fairview Separate Baptist Church and loved UK basketball and his chewing tobacco. He was also a member of Hood Masonic Lodge #839. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Rada Antle Atchley and his son Jonathan "Peanut" Atchley, four brothers Eugene Atchley, Obie Atchley, Azure Atchley, and Buel Atchley and one sister Dolene Hoover.

His Daughter-in-law- Julie Atchley Wray(Rondall) of Burkesville, KY
Five Grandchildren- Curtis Atchley(Micah) of Somerset, KY, Megan Carter(Jason) of Lexington, KY, Dana Cornelius(Chris) of Danville, KY, Twana Reeves(Byron) of Burkesville, KY, and Christy Appleby(Joe) of Burkesville, KY
Three Sisters- Shirley Reliford of Columbia, KY Emma Sullivan of Liberty, KY and Brenda Veatch(Hobert) of Campbellsville, KY
along with a host nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service:
Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 1:00 P.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 North Main Street, Burkesville, KY with burial in Burkesville Cemetery. Family requests visitation on Monday, March 9th from 4 P.M. till 9 P.M. and on Tuesday from 6 A.M. until time for the funeral service at 1 P.M. at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.        

A masonic service will be conducted by Hood Lodge #839 on Monday evening at 7 P.M. at the funeral home
